Play Therapist, Filial Therapist and Tele-Play Therapist.
Jo is a qualified Play and Filial Therapist accredited by the British Association of Play Therapists (BAPT). She recently trained as an advanced level Tele-Play therapist, and has been developing our on-line play therapy service. Jo joined The Windfall Centre in its infancy bringing with her the knowledge and expertise that saw her nominated as the most outstanding student in her Play Therapy Master’s degree course.
She has been working with children and young people for well over 15 years and prior to becoming a play therapist her roles included being a reading friend and a study support worker. This important work helped many children struggling in school to gain confidence and build their resilience. Jo’s previous work as a ChildLine counsellor brought her close to the emotional difficulties encountered by so many children and influenced her decision to become a play therapist.
Since joining the Windfall Centre, Jo has extended her work in schools, providing play therapy with some of the more troubled children, and support and consultation to teachers. She manages the Windfall Centre schools’ programme where her tele-play skills are invaluable in allowing children to access therapy within the school day.
Jo is one of the two Welsh representatives for the British Association of Play Therapists, a very valuable connection for the Windfall Centre.
