Holly Joyce

Play Therapist, Filial Therapist and Theraplay Level One Practitioner

Holly’s work with children and young people extends over 15 years. Her diverse roles include nursery nurse, mentor for Cardiff Youth Offending Team, support worker to children with autism and behavioural needs, family contact supervisor and drama teacher.

Holly’s background in Drama and Education saw her develop a bespoke framework teaching the social and emotional aspects of learning (SEAL Programme) through the medium of Drama across primary schools in the South Wales area. Through her work facilitated in schools, Holly became inspired by how children appeared to find such catharsis through role play and so Holly decided to train as a Play Therapist – accredited by the British Association of Play Therapists (BAPT).

In addition to qualified Play Therapist, Holly is also a qualified Filial Therapist, a Level One Theraplay Practitioner, and a trained Therapeutic Life Story Work facilitator.

Holly continues her therapeutic work with children and families in education settings alongside education providers whereby she provides insight into trauma and attachment to equip staff with skills to understand and manage the complex needs of pupils. Holly is also enjoying working with children and families in clinical settings.

Holly is currently embarking on her training to become a Clinical Supervisor and carefully promotes student practice as a Placement Manager.
